With over a decade of industry presence, the client has been addressing the manufacturing challenges in the spaces of mining, marine, and refinery. Client Requirements – Steel Shop Drawings and Erection Drawings
The client came to know about Sivani Engineering Services (SES) from the web and contacted our team for the high-value steel detailing project. As part of the input documents, the client had provided the structural design drawings. The drawings had the details of the structural building plans, elevation drawings, sectional details, and other general notes. The client wanted us to develop the 3D model and deliver the extracted shop drawings as well as the erection drawings for the structure.
Project Challenges – Coordination of Steel Components and Piping
As in any other steel erection drawing project, the major challenge before the SES team was to plan the alignment of the steel components into the framework. After raising the RFIs for clarification from the client and based on our previous project experience, the coordination of the steel framework with the piping system and the tanks was planned.
Structural Shop Drawing Process Followed by the Sivani Engineering Services
Keeping the project challenges and delivery timeline in mind, the SES management formed a team of 10 specialist structural engineers to complete the project within 45 days. The process outline was as below:
- 1. The exact requirements and deliverables were clarified by the client and clearly documented.
- 2. The structural designs were then developed into the 3D model to visualize all the elevations and sectional details in the drawings.
- 3. The erection drawings or the member placement drawings were developed by our fabricators. These drawings were supported by the erection bracing drawings required for additional welding, bolting, raising, or placing of the steel components.
- 4. The independent shop drawings and coordination drawings were developed.
- 5. After a two-level QC, the shop drawings and the erection drawings were shared with the client through the original mode of the file transfer.
